A couple weeks ago our day started off tragic, when I discovered my daughters heart horse had passed away in the night. My daughter was completely heartbroken as well as myself watching her greive the unexpected loss of her favorite boy. I called around,and do to the bitter cold weather we had, was told it would be too hard to bury him. I was beginning to lose hope when I was referred to J&J's service. I called Josh and without hesitation and sympathy he said he would have someone to my house that afternoon. They came to the rescue and were completely professional and kind. After he prepared the spot, working hard to break through the frost, he returned to the house to make sure we had said our final goodbyes before laying him to rest. I highly recommend their services. They went above and beyond to help us!

Thank you to Josh & his crew of J & J Services for going above & beyond during the installation of our new septic system . First off Josh went & got his certification for Michigan Saves septic loan program so we were able to acquire a 1% interest loan. . We are extremely grateful for that . He took care of all permits with the health dept. He & his crew did an amazing job installing our septic. They were respectful & careful of our yard during the installation. They were professional, efficient, & absolutely qualified to do this job. After completion he checked back with us several times & there was a little bit of settling of dirt in the yard. He sent his crew to fill in a small bit of settling . There was a trailer of dirt leftover . Thanks to his crew for spreading all the remaining dirt in my flower bed . We highly recommend J & J Services ! 5 Stars !
My wife and I met with Josh this Fall to have a piece of our property worked on. We wanted the undergrowth cleaned up around the field edges, and an access path to another field we own. Josh and Crew really did a great job! Josh got this work done in a prompt and timely fashion and came within quoted budget. We would highly recommend Josh!

We bought a house in Minocqua last year that had a dirt driveway. It was very soft and would get extremely muddy any time it rained. Josh came out and re-leveled the driveway and added gravel to create a solid base for us to drive and park on. This picture is what it looks like after winter. The driveway has held up great and I expect we will get years of use before needing any maintenance. Thanks Josh!
Josh was referred to me by my landowner neighbor to clear the snow on my Northwoods property. He did a great job and was careful not to rut the drive and displace the gravel. He did the job earlier than expected and kept me updated throughout his progress. He even followed up to make sure I was satisfied with his work. Highly recommended. Hired Josh with J&J Excavation and Land Clearing Services to clear a lot for our future build site and also clear a path to the riverfront. Josh and Brent showed up on time and ready to go and used newer equipment for the entire job. Josh made suggestions in determining which trees to clear versus keep which resulted in improvements to the water views. Josh provided drone images of the build site after completion! The final price was very reasonable. We are satisfied customers and highly recommend their services, and we will use them in the future!
Josh Alexander, owner of J & J Services, constructed a new septic mound system for our home in Ironwood, Michigan, the summer of 2023. He was knowledgeable, professional, and displayed exceptional customer service skills. He communicated via email, phone calls, text messages, and pictures as the project progressed. He promptly returned responses to my questions and kept me up-to-date through every step in the process. He also took time to explain the work in a manageable and understandable manner. Josh demonstrated the ability to problem solve complex issues with our project and adhered to timelines. He was focused on constructing a system with a long-life span, but also focused on the aesthetic outcome regarding the landscape. In addition, Josh worked efficiently and effectively with other professionals when needed to perform the work, including Health Department personnel, professionals to handle septic tank pumping, businesses that supply earth material, and tree/brush removal services. Finally, the price of the system didn’t surpass the initial bid; Josh was accurate in his assessment of what was needed to get the job done. Josh was an absolute blessing during this winter storm. He had my driveway cleared out upon my arrival and kept it cleared throughout the storm. He is responsive to text , and went out of his way to keep me informed about plow times for the holiday. I would absolutely recommend him
Josh came by and moved some large snow banks that had built up at the end and sides of my driveway from the plow. He worked efficiently to address all of my needs. I will definitely be calling him again once the snow banks get too large.
We have a long driveway and Josh was able to keep it clear, smooth and without those giant snow banks. Worth every penny!

I have a 1/4 mile drive through the woods. This winter has provided ample amounts of snow and my driveway kept shrinking. I hired Josh after UPS stopped coming to my house. I am so glad that I did. He was prompt in addressing the issue. He did a site check and provided an estimate. He kept excellent communication with calls and texts. He cut my banks down in a matter of days and widened my driveway. His work is neat and quite exact, right up to the markers! He is professional, courteous and provides a quality service. Such customer service is difficult to come by these days. I’m blessed to have found him and will continue to use his services.
Josh has helped take down two building so far. Made quick work of job and when he was done job site was very neat and to satisfaction. Would highly recommend to others looking. Josh has also been out brushing multiple trials that where overgrown restoring them to what they use to be. Helped clear and regain field space. Again highly recommend for anyone looking for brush/clearing.
A couple years ago I had J&J excavate and create a horse arena. He did an exceptional job so when I realized I needed a culvert replaced he was the 1st and only person I called. He also widened the driveway, cleared some trees and addressed a mud situation by my barn. As a woman I have been disrespected and taken advantage of by contractors but that is NOT the case with Josh.
Josh has been a godsend for my property. He was exactly what my camp needed. He allowed me to share the plan that I had, then added his own ideas in to make it exactly how it should be. I will absolutely have have him back again and again to achieve what the property needs. He's worth every penny.

J & J did a great job clearing a fence line and brushing a field with trees in it. They are great supporters of our local youth groups also. Thank you for the great services and support to the community and its youth.
Very kind and helpful. Quick to respond to questions and concerns. Very knowledgeable with his work. They plow my driveway/ yard in a very timely amd clean manner. They were also fast to remove and clean some brush on my property leaving no trace of equipment tracks or debris in the yard. Very happy with J&J, will most definitely continue to use them for all my landscaping and digging needs. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for the best and affordable.
Josh and his crew jackhammered garage floor into rubble. Only took a couple hours. Highly recommend these guys.
We returned home from a vacation and we had 1-2 feet of water in our basement due to a sump pump malfunction. We contacted J & J Services and Josh arrived that evening (Sunday Evening) to solve the issue. After solving the issue, he returned in a few days to improve the operation of our sump pump and it’s been working superbly for a year. Fantastic service. Will definitely refer to others.
Josh has been to our property several times for all kinds of tasks, turning our land into a comfortable place to camp. Every project has turned out great, he’s helpful and professional and he’s always our first call.
Josh is skillful, dependable, has a good work ethic, and has top notch equipment to do a great job. Last winter I couldn’t move snow as I had a knee replacement. Josh cleared our driveway every snow fall. One time Josh’s kindness was obvious when he shoveled the snow at the front door so we could get out of the house.

Great service at a reasonable rate! I am from out of state and I have 1/2 mile of cabin road I needed cleared. I spoke with Josh a few days before and he took the time to drive out and see the job and had it cleared the following day so we could continue on with our construction. We will be using his service every winter now.

I was foolish. I ordered a quad dump truck full of rock to be placed on my property. The truck driver refused (smartly) to drive up the narrow, windy, steep drive. I had rock paid for and did not know what to do. Josh came out and shuttled the rock to my property for a very reasonable price in a super fast time line. He had an opportunity to completely take advantage of my bad situation, but he didn't. He treated me right, and saved me from a problem of my own making. I later had Josh pull out stumps and build a parking pad and driveway down to my property. He took my really poor guidance and delivered a nice product on a less than ideal property. I will be back for my future excavating needs.

We contacted Josh to "clean up" around our doors at our storage facility. He gave us a quote and got the job done right away with no excuses. Plus he did an outstanding job cleaning up the mess. Based on his performance on this job we would certainly use him again. We even asked that he bid snow removal for us next year because of the care he took to keep out door mostly cleared (impossible to get it all cleared) for our customers. Thank You JOSH!!
